2012 Recruitment Predictions - Chris Blair

What lies ahead for the transport and logistics employment market in 2012?
These markets seem to buck the trend and are at odds with some of the articles that have recently been published in other publications about the lack of confidence in the general employment market.
We have witnessed a return to an employment market that is short of skilled individuals that are consistently available for employment. This statement obviously has exceptions but in general terms, employers are battling to attract talented individuals to their organisations. Employers that are responsive and open minded when it comes to recruiting tend to stand a better chance than employers that approach recruitment in an off the cuff manner.
It has never been more important to retain talented staff while also attracting new individuals with the ability to add value.
Feedback from the transport and logistics industry indicate there is cautious optimism about what 2012 will deliver. A return to aggressive sales and marketing activities by some organisations has triggered new customer support and growth in their core business activities.
One thing is for sure, these markets are highly competitive and in most cases the major difference between companies is the level of service they provide. This is closely linked to the calibre of the staff and their ability to accurately represent a business that is in control of it service offering.
