5 Million Dollar gift to Mainfreight Staff

Today, founding owner of Mainfreight Bruce Plested turned 70, in itself turning 70 is a great accomplishment however what makes this more incredible is his gift of $1000 to each staff member.

Mainfreight has been in operation since 1978 and has expanded globally in more recent time’s, as a result staff numbers have reached over 5000.  

Staff that has been with Mainfreight for over 1 year will receive $1000 in their bank account tonight.

In gifting the money Bruce sent the staff an email that outlines his outlook on life and his appreciation to his staff. It is reported that his staff are overwhelmed with the gift and have sent emails of gratitude to Bruce, some staff expressed how the money has arrived at the right time given their personal financial situation.

To the Mainfreight Team,

Today the 14th of March in New Zealand is my 70th Birthday, I have never felt fitter nor had greater peace of mind than I have had in recent years, this peace of mind is very much as a result of the success of the Mainfrieght family, not only with our striving for quality, growth and profit but also caring for each other and our communities, and in trying to make a difference in the world.

In New Zealand, we have a Maori word “Aroha” . Aroha can mean the love between a man and a woman, it can also describe the warmth we feel for each other in belonging to a Family or a Team. It is that strong feeling of Aroha  that I celebrate my Birthday by gifting to all those that have been part of the team for a year or more One Thousand dollars. This money will be paid tonight through our normal payment system as a personal gift from me, therefore it is not regarded as income and is not taxable
