DB Schenker Rail win the Rail Freight Award at the Global Freight Awards

DB Schenker Rail UK last night, Wednesday 21 November, won the highly prestigious Rail Freight Award at the Global Freight Awards held in London.

This award is of particular importance as it is voted for by the users of rail freight services and is their chance to reward the rail freight operator who has provided the most significant contribution to the industry over the past 12 months.

Rail freight users recognised DB Schenker Rail UK’s work over the last year to introduce a range of new services and products for users of rail freight, in particular widening choice for customers using rail freight services from the UK’s major ports.  

In addition to this award, DB Schenker Rail UK also won the Environment Award for the successful operation of its Bow East Logistics Centre for the handling of materials for the construction of the Olympic Games.  

The Bow East Logistics Centre helped the Olympic Delivery Authority to reduce overall carbon emissions associated with London 2012, with 60% of construction materials for the Olympic Park being transported in an environmentally friendly way.

In September 2012 DB Schenker Rail UK was named Business of the Year at the Rail Freight Group Awards.
