Eric Herman takes the helm as Global CCO for Damco

Eric Herman With offices and representation in more than 120 countries the commercial activities are broad for Damco. This is the responsibility for Eric Herman who now takes over as new Global Chief Commercial Officer.

Copenhagen, 1 May 2012 – Effective today, Eric Herman has moved to a position as Global Chief Commercial Officer for Damco, the logistics arm of A.P. Moller-Maersk Group. He will take overall responsibility for Damco’s global commercial activities. Aged 46, Eric Herman has 19 years of commercial experience and a strong execution record, which is exactly what Damco is looking for, says Damco CEO Rolf Habben-Jansen.

“I am very happy to have Eric on board and I am convinced that he will be a strong addition to our commercial team and to our global leadership team”.

Eric Herman joins Damco at a time of steady progress and high expectations, especially in growth markets. With a USD 2.8 bn. turnover in 2011, Damco has set out on an ambitious growth path, to become a major player in the global logistics industry.

The challenge facing the new Global CCO is to help Damco to continue delivering superior value to the customers, to grow faster than the market, as well as growing volumes significantly, while further improving profitability.

Eric Herman joins Damco from a position with A.P. Moller-Maersk owned shipping line Safmarine, where he has been Chief Commercial Officer since 2010. Before joining the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, Eric Herman had a successful career within General Electrics (GE Plastics) and SABIC, which includes a number of leadership positions and three years in Shanghai, P.R. China (2005-2008).

Eric Herman holds a Master of Science, Material Science & Engineering from (Technische Universiteit) University of Technology in Delft. He is a Dutch native, and is married to Nicole with two children.

At Damco, Eric will be based in the HQ office in Copenhagen.
