Swiss Company Wins European Award for Logistics Excellence 2011

With his dual use tractor trailer invention the inventor and businessman, Urs Badertscher, won the European Award for Logistics Excellence 2011 of the ELA, the umbrella organisation of European logistic national associations.

With just a few manual adjustments and in less than 3 minutes the trailer can be converted to transport liquid or pallets. In the Champions League of logistic innovations, the dual use tractor trailer convinced the jury: it represents "innovation at its highest level, a very original solution with significant and tremendous cost savings – simply brilliant,” was the comment.

Once the dual use tractor trailer is ideally integrated into the logistics chain, the investment volume can be reduced and the cost?effectiveness can be improved substantially making cost savings feasible of up to 40% over traditional transportation systems. The relentless increases in gas prices, always new and higher highway tolls, and the need to massively reduce CO? emissions strengthen the market position of the dual use tractor trailer over the long term.

The new and patented transport system underscores the requirements of the European Union to consistently reduce empty runs and improve vehicle utilization.

After several years of successful test operations at the transportation company Badertscher in Kleinandelfingen, logistics specialists and transporters in Europe can now integrate the promising system into their supply chain. In Europe, the potential for the dual use tractor trailer is immense.

Each year, large amounts of bulk liquid freight are transported over longer distances for processing, such as over 130 million tons of milk per year.

The European Logistic Award for the dual use tractor trailer confirms that with just a little a lot can be accomplished. Two become one when transporting goods thereby reducing investments, costs, and environmental pollution by almost half.

The ELA is the umbrella organisation of 30 European logistic organisations. Almost each organisation entered its national logistic award winner for the European Award for Logistics Excellence. The award ceremony is set to be held on the 26th of May 2011 in Lisbon.
