    Another advantage of Singapore and Hong Kong is that the are both free ports in terms of duty payable on importation. This is also one of the resaons why many multinationals have these places as their Asian region hub

    I would suggest that Singapore is an important part of most International Supply Chains, being a very large port, ideally located between major sources of supply and customers.

    But of course the same could be said for Hong Kong, Rotterdam, Shanghai and the other major global ports.
